Project overview

We were awarded a Low Carbon Communities grant by the Province of Nova Scotia through a competitive grant process to deliver a project titled ‘Cycling for Transportation on Nova Scotia’s South Shore’. The project was delivered in partnership with Cycling Nova Scotia.

Throughout the project we filmed interviews with 10 folks who cycle as their mode of transportation, which were edited into short 1-min reels for Instagram and Facebook and then compiled into a short film called Rural Rides.

At the end of the project we hosted a community film screening and panel discussion. Our event featured free basic bike tune-ups, free food, and a cash bar. It was by all measures a huge success with over 50 attendees, a lively panel discussion, and attendance by local politicians who make decisions impacting cycling infrastructure and safety.

The reels we created resulted in Cycling Nova Scotia’s highest engagement EVER on their Instagram account and the film generated a lot of public discussion about cycling in our community.

We partnered with many incredible organizations and businesses to make the project a success, and we’re so grateful for their support of cycling in our community.
